#MagnoliaSpotlight - Magnolia State Bank is proud to announce that Brittany Jones has been promoted to Collections Assistant/ Universal Banker. Brittany first started with Magnolia State Bank in March of 2022, since then everyday has been truly a delight to work with her. She started out as a Universal Banker and then moved to Head Teller where she then gained more banking knowledge. She has continuously been an individual that has exceeded our expectations around every corner. We’re extremely thankful to have a member like Brittany to be a part of our MSB family.
The W.L. Jessup Memorial Scholarship Winners for 2023
The W. L. Jessup Memorial Scholarship Award has been instituted for more than 20 years at Magnolia State Bank and was established in the memory of Mr. W. L. Jessup, one of our banks founding fathers. The scholarship was created to assist with the continuing education costs for those interested not only in our locally owned financial institution, but also for seniors who serve on the Magnolia State Bank's Junior Board of Directors. This award has been granted to more than one hundred graduating seniors and has substantially contributed to their paths for higher education. This scholarship has been instrumental in helping form lives that contribute positively to local and surrounding communities.

Saver Squirrel Giveaway
Every year Magnolia State Bank holds a coloring contest, where the winners are given a special Christmas present. The holiday season is all about giving back, so seeing a child's face light up when they receive a gift makes everything worthwhile.
The prizes for our Saver Squirrel coloring contest this year is a Nintendo Switch bundle with a game. A winner was chosen in each of our market areas. 114th Anniversary Prize Winners
In celebration of Magnolia State Bank’s 114th anniversary, we held a giveaway for our customers to enter a drawing for the chance winning a Blackstone grill. For a customer to enter the drawing for this prize, all they had to do was visit one of our locations in Eastman, Gray, or Milledgeville. The lucky winner this year is Timothy Maddox. Congratulations!
Junior Board - Dodge Co. Homecoming Parade
Every year the Eastman's Junior Board participates in the Dodge County Homecoming Parade. Instead of candy, our Junior Board members pass out mini footballs to the kids. This is one of the many favorite events that our Junior Board participants in each year.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
For the month of October & November we will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Ivey Baptist Church & Café Central Freedom Church. The items will be going to those that need a little help this holiday season. You can drop off the donated items at our North Columbia Street location in Milledgeville, Ga.

Milly Free Fridge - Take What You Need, Leave What You Can
For the month of August Magnolia State Bank will be accepting donations for "Milly Free Fridge". Milly Free Fridge concept seeks to address food insecurity by making fresh foods available in communities where they are most needed. Unlike traditional food pantries that rely largely on non-perishable foods, free fridges allow users access to free produce, meat and more by providing a refrigerator to keep food fresh.
Any donations to help Milly Free Fridge will be appreciated at our North Columbia location in Milledgeville, Ga.
Magnolia Spotlight - Meet Our New Assistant Branch Manager Catelynn Duncan
#MagnoliaSpotlight - Magnolia State Bank is proud to announce that Catelynn Duncan has been promoted to Assistant Branch Manager for the Milledgeville market.
Ms. Duncan joined the bank in 2015 where she started out as a teller. From there the opportunity to move up in the company arose. Due to her outstanding performance as the Collection Manager, Ms. Duncan has earned the title of Assistant Branch Manager. As Assistant Branch Manager, Ms. Duncan will help oversee managing and guiding the overall performance of the branch.

Back to School Supply Drive
The first day of school is just around the corner, so Starting on July 1st - 31st we're collecting school supplies for the Central State Hospital Morale Committee. You can drop off the donated items at our North Columbia Street location in Milledgeville, Ga.

Milledgeville-Baldwin Chamber of Commerce - Annual Gala
Each year, the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce recognizes the Small Business of the Year, along with other notable community awards. This year our very own April Thompson was named Chamber Ambassador of the Year for her volunteer work with the Chamber and the local business community.
Congratulations to April Thompson on being named Ambassador of the Year for the Milledgeville Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce. April regularly attends Chamber functions and positively represents Magnolia State Bank. This is quite an honor, as there are over 20 Ambassadors involved in the program. Way to go April!

Graduating Junior Board Members - Dodge County High School

Georgia War Veteran's Home Donation Drive
Starting on May 1st - 31st we're collecting items for the Georgia War Veteran's Home in Milledgeville.
We are accepting the following items:
- Snacks (that are individual wrapped i.e. Little Debbie Cakes, pudding cups, poptarts, cookies, chips, etc.)

Book Donation Drive
If you have any New or Gently Used books for K-5th Grade, please donate! We will be collecting books from April 3rd - 28th. You can drop them off at Magnolia State Bank on North Columbia Street Milledgeville, Ga. All the books collected will be taken to Midway Hills Academy.
Georgia Cancer Support Donation
We held an Easter Bake Sale and each of our locations created an Easter Basket full of goodies that was raffled off. We were able to raise $2,935.00 to be donated to the Georgia Cancer Support.
A special thank you to Catelynn Duncan (Downtown Milledgeville location), She took the lead on this project for it to come together.
Bake Sale for the Georgia Cancer Support
We also held a bake sale on April 7th to help raise even more money for the Georgia Cancer Support. We had all sorts of sweet treats available; from cakes, cookies, pies, you name it we had it! By the end of the day, we had sold everything.
Easter Basket Raffle: The Winners!
We had four lucky winners from each of our locations that won an Easter basket. From Eastman it was Bryan Brown, Gray it was James Vinson (pictured above), Milledgeville (from our North Columbia location) it was Joy Simpson (pictured above) and from out Downtown Milledgeville location it was Jen Yearwood.
Easter Basket Raffle for the Georgia Cancer Support
Each of our locations raffled off Easter Baskets full of goodies, in honor of the Georgia Cancer Support. Everyone was welcome to participate in the raffle. To purchase a ticket(s) for the raffle you had to stop by one of our locations and purchase a ticket from our tellers. $5.00 for One Ticket, $20.00 for Five Tickets and the drawing was held on Good Friday, April 7th.
The Georgia Cancer Support, Inc. is a Christian ministry serving the needs of Georgia cancer patients through the love of Jesus Christ. The organization was established in Milledgeville, Georgia on January 1st, 2012. The Georgia Cancer Support is a nonprofit Georgia corporation that provides many kinds of support for cancer patients throughout the state. They depend on the generosity of the community for financial donations and volunteering of their time. Georgia Cancer Support also partners with other community resources that assist in meeting patients’ everyday physical and spiritual needs.

Magnolia State Bank's - First Responder Appreciation Luncheon
To show our appreciation for the outstanding job that the Dodge County/Eastman First Responder provide to everyone in our community. We catered in lunch at the American Legion for the First Responders, from the Police, Fire, and Sheriff's Departments on March 30th from E & G Catering.
Milledgeville Scene Magazine "20 Under 40" - Joshua Flournoy
Joshua Flournoy, who has been a customer of ours for 16 years made the front page of a local magazine, “Milledgeville Scene” a couple of weeks ago. This morning the bank gifted him with the front page and article framed. HE LOVED IT! The article shared a little of him and his wife, Aerin’s background of how they made it to where they are now, the article also went on to discuss how they balance each other out in the business world & their passion for helping others. Today, Barbarakares is listed as one of Inc. Magazine’s 5,000 fastest growing private companies in America!
Magnolia Spotlight - Nylan Hinson's Retirement
Our dear friend, valued employee, and family member, Nylan Hinson, retired on March 15, 2023. During her retirement, we wish her good fortune for many years to come. Nylan has been with the bank for an incredible eighteen years and has consistently brightened each and every one of our days. Her hard work and dedication to her profession is, and will be, admired by staff for many years to come.
Animal Shelter Donation Drive
Please help us help Baldwin County Animal Control & Services and save a life by donating today. Local animal shelters are in constant need of supplies and rely heavily on donations from the public. Your donation will go a long way in helping a sheltered dog or cat be more comfortable while waiting for their furever home. We will be taking donations from March 1st through March 31st. All donations can be dropped off at our Magnolia State Bank branch on North Columbia Street in Milledgeville.

Ms. Thompson joined the bank in 2021 where she started out as a Customer Service Representative. From there the opportunity to move up as the Assistant Branch Manager arose. Due to her outstanding performance as the Assistant Branch Manager, Ms. Thompson has earned the title of Branch Manager. As Branch Manager, Ms. Thompson will be in charge of managing and guiding the overall performance of the branch, which will including attracting, growing, and retaining client relationships, as well as consumer and small business lending.

Toys for Tots/Baldwin County Fire & Rescue's Toy Drive
Our Gray & Milledgeville locations all participating in a Toy Drive this holiday season. In Gray we partnered with Toys for Tots. Both of our locations in Milledgeville participated with the Baldwin County Fire Rescue's Annual Toy Drive. Each toy drive began collecting the donated toys in November, up until December 12th when Toys for Tots & the Baldwin County Fire Rescue would begin collecting the toys.
Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Outreach
One of our Milledgeville branches decided to take part in the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Outreach. We made a total of 13 boxes. These boxes will be delivered to children from the ages of 2-14 years old. The Ivey Baptist Church will collect these boxes and then they will ship them to children in other countries. We enjoy helping our local communities but decided to share the love to other countries.

Food Drive
One of our Milledgeville branches participated in a food drive for two different churches the Ivey Baptist Church in Wilkinson County and the Café Central (the Freedom Church) in Milledgeville. We began collecting non-perishable food items in early November and then all the donations were picked up on November 17th.

The Not-So-Scary Grayberry Spectacular
We’re so happy that we had the chance to be a part of The Not-So-Scary Grayberry Spectacular! There were so many amazing costumes and themes from everyone at the event. We’re already looking forward to participating in this fun event next year!

113th Anniversary Prize Winners
In celebration of Magnolia State Bank's 113th Anniversary we held a giveaway for our customers to enter a drawing at the chance of winning a Yeti cooler or an Instant Air Fryer. For a customer to enter the drawing for these prizes all they had to do was visit one of our locations: Eastman, Gray and Milledgeville.

Mr. Angel "Georgia Prize Pack" Winner
Congratulations Carlton Gardner on winning the Georgia Prize Pack!!
Mr. Angel, the first English Bulldog to serve the University of Georgia as its mascot from 1944-1946. Mr. Angel’s hometown and where his statue resides in Eastman, GA is where our Eastman Branch is located. We wanted to hold a giveaway for our customers, in which they would have the chance of winning our Georgia Prize Pack in honor of Mr. Angel. The Prize Pack was full of goodies from all over the state of Georgia!

Reality Check
We had a wonderful time at the Reality Check event! Milledgeville-Baldwin Chamber hosted the Reality Check event at the Georgia Military College Prep School for their 10th grade students. The students pretended to be 25-year-old, some were married with children, and some were single, with monthly budget to work within. The students then had to determine how much they were going to spend and budget accordingly. Some of the different stations included Auto, Education, Utilities, Retail, Law & Order, Just for Fun, and etc.

Milledgeville Downtown First Friday
We had a great time at Milledgeville's First Friday this month! We had a “Color A Classic” Contest to win a MSB goodie bag. We had a ton of entries for the coloring contest. We end up dividing all the entries into three different age bracket 1) 2 years - 5 years old, 2) 6 years - 8years old, and 3) 9 years & up.

Magnolia State Bank presented the Dodge County/Eastman essential workers, from the Police, Fire, and Sheriff's Departments, with a gift consisting of The Butcher Block gift certificates on January 25th. W. L. Jessup Memorial Scholarship Winners for 2020
The W. L. Jessup Memorial Scholarship Award has been instituted for more than 18 years at Magnolia State Bank, and was established in the memory of Mr. W. L. Jessup, one of our banks founding fathers. The scholarship was created to assist with the continuing education costs for those interested not only in our locally owned financial institution, but also for seniors who serve on the Magnolia State Bank's Junior Board of Directors. This award has been granted to more than 100 graduating seniors, and has substantially contributed to their paths for higher education. This scholarship has been instrumental in helping form lives that contribute positively to local and surrounding communities.
Recipients this year were: 1st place Cayden Studstill, 2nd place Brayden Studstill, 3rd place Leslie Watson, 4th place MacKenzie Thomas. These four not only held offices on the board but also led in several projects during the year.
Saver Squirrel Giveaway
Magnolia State Bank holds a coloring contest each year, where the winners receive a wonderful Christmas gift. Christmas time is the season of giving and we can’t go without taking care of the little ones. Seeing smiles on kids’ faces when they get their gift makes it all worth it.

Bras for a Cause
Every October, The Brick in Milledgeville, GA holds their annual Bras for a Cause contest to raise money for Georgia Cancer Support during breast cancer awareness month. Each participant submits their own bra design, with some flair. Magnolia State Bank has had the honor of being the reigning Champ since 2017!

100th Day of School
The kids at Baldwin County’s Early Learning Center love to celebrate their 100th day of school! They took a special field trip to visit our Milledgeville Office and were able to cash in their 100 pennies for a cool, crisp dollar bill. It’s always great to see their smiling faces!

What better way to end a summer break than to have a Back to School Bash in downtown Milledgeville with Magnolia State Bank’s Saver Squirrel. Milledgeville Main Street was able to do just that to help the kids end their summer on a high note, plus they got to hang out with the Saver Squirrel!

Each year, the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce recognizes the Small Business of the Year, along with other notable community awards. In 2019, our very own Jordan Norville was named Chamber Ambassador of the Year for his volunteer work with the Chamber and the local business community.
Congratulations to Jordan Norville on being named Ambassador of the Year for the Milledgeville Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce. Jordan regularly attends Chamber functions and positively represents Magnolia State Bank. This is quite an honor, as there are over 20 Ambassadors involved in the program. Way to go Jordan! University of Georgia Mascot Buried at Magnolia State Bank Eastman Office
Mr. Angel, The first English Bulldog to serve the University of Georgia as its mascot. Today, this type of bulldog has become one of the nation's most famous collegiate symbols with the continued use by the University of Georgia.
